The Missouri State Lady Bears (5-6, 0-0 MVC) begin Missouri Valley Conference play Sunday at 2:05 p.m. when Wichita State (9-2) comes to JQH Arena. The league’s two longest current winning streaks will be on the line as MSU has won four consecutive games while the Shockers have won eight in a row.
Missouri State plays its 22nd Missouri Valley Conference opener Sunday with a 14-7 record in the previous 21.
The Wichita State game is also “We Back Pat Night,” a national and MVC initiative to help raise Alzheimer’s awareness and support the foundation of Pat Summitt. Fans are encouraged to wear orange and purple as two of Summitt’s former players face off for the first time as head coaches.
Donations will be accepted for the foundation, and t-shirts will be sold by the MSU Bookstore. There will also be a silent auction with several Pat Summitt items up for bid.
