Pavilion Going Up
The new pavilion at the golf course is definitely taking shape. The framing for the roof is almost complete, with the trusses and rafters in place. We are really excited to see this become a reality. It will add so much to our facility. It will also serve as another venue for community use for parties and get- togethers.
Driving Range Change
We have built a new tee box for the driving range. It is right next to the # 5 men’s tee box. Range hitters will now hit away from the golf course toward the airport. Flags are set at 50-100-150-200-250 yard distances. We cleared a little more area for the longest distances, but it does get narrower after 200 yards. Golfers still hit their own shag balls and then pick them up. It is a welcome addition to the course and will allow golfers to hit their woods while practicing.
The Casual League had 3 four person teams shoot a four under 31 in a scramble format. To break the tie a putt off was held. Along downhill putt was chosen. It was almost 60 feet and not a straight effort. Tom Siegrist won for his team by sinking the putt. Other team members were Sherri Unger, Barb Tate and Buster Graves. Kyle Wake won closest to the pin.
In the Cat and Dog League Sherri Unger and Steve Coatney ran away from the field by making birdies on their first 3 holes and finishing with a 4 under 31. Second place in the top flight went to Michele and Michael McDaniel who shot a 33. First place in A flight was won by Kaye and Jamie Tipton with a 35. Three teams shot a 36 to tie for second. They were Barb Tate and Buster Graves ,Patsy Wyatt and Farrell Graves, and Katie and Dan Sherbo. Closest to thepin was won by Sherri Unger.
After the Cat and Dog League, cake and ice cream was served for Barb Tate’s birthday. She was very surprised. Thanks to all who helped plan this for her and make her day very special.
