He was born March 17, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa to the late Clinton C. and Faye Monroe Steely. Mr. Steely grew up on a farm outside of Manchester, Iowa and was the youngest of five boys. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps in the 1st Marine Division serving during the Korean Conflict. While in the service, Glen served nine months in Korea and achieved the rank of Sergeant in just 28 months. After his military service, Glen spent most of his career in industrial sales for General Electric and Westinghouse. He married Sandra Louise Conyers on June 12, 1999, in Mesquite, Nevada. Mr. Steely relocated to the Mountain Home area from Grand Junction, Colorado in 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dean, Dale and Gordon Steely and a step brother, John Parkinson.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Sandra Steely of Mountain Home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Blough of Stow, Massachusetts and Dana Kinchen of Arlington, Texas; a stepson and step daughter-in-law, Rick and Michele Spangler of Bedford, Indiana; two grandchildren, Corey and Carley Kinchen, both of Arlington, Texas; his four legged friend, Buddy; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jim McDonald officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ozark Post 3246. Arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
