Charles (Bud) Johnson, , 85 of Cherokee Village, Arkansas died on Monday, May 28, 2012, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. Born Thursday, February 10, 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota. He was the youngest of five children, after all girls. They finally got their boy!. Bud trusted Christ as Savior at 14 yrs at Gull Lake Bible Conference in Michigan, and was baptized at Evangel Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan.
He was active in Christian ministry from his teens and sang and played his trumpet in the Voice of Christian Youth in Detroit, MI.
He graduated from Northwestern Bible College in 1958 with a Bible Christian Education diploma and earned his B.A. later.
He married Eunice Johnson who was an assistant in the Music Dept. at the same school. Were married in 1950 and in 1953 a son was born Randy. During this time he attended Ford Motor Co. Trade School and graduated.
In 1960 we adopted a sister and brother, Deb and Mike. Bud was employed at the University of MI, as a mechanical designer. After 5 years he felt called to go into Home Missions – planting new Baptist Churches. He planted 3 new churches: Davenport and Burlington, Iowa and Massillon, Ohio. Later he served as a fields Director with Baptist Church Planters, retiring after 12 years. During his retirement he served as Interim Paster at Foothills Baptist in Hardy for 2 years and in Pueblo West, CO.
Bud was always a fun-loving and Jovial person, diligent in preaching the Word of God in he churches he ministered. Bud always enjoyed young people and served many summers at camp. Bud loved to play his trumpet and Austrian Flugelhorn in the Community Band and loved to sing and lead singing at church. Bud served in church planting for 45 years.
Bud is survived by his wife Eunice Johnson of the home a son Randy Johnson of Northglenn, CO and a sister Florence Thomas of Sister Bay, WI. Grandchildren David Jehle, Joshua Johnson, Crystal Bates and Amber Brink, Great Grandchildren Lacey and Austin Jehle, Brooke Bates, Zachariah and Hannah Bates.
Preceded in death by his son Mike and daughter Deb. his parents and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday at Heath Oak Hill Chapel in Hardy. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Friday at Foothills Baptist Church in Hardy. Interment will follow in Bronaugh Cemetery, North of Hardy next to Spring River Baptist Church.Brothers Peter Jenks and Lynn Raby will be officiating.
