J. Leroy Shipley, 80, a resident of Mountain Home went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Baxter Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 15, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late James Edward and Helen Louise (Blair) Shipley. Leroy married Marjorie Ann Knapp on January 28, 1952, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He spent his working years as a print press operator at both the St. Joe News and the Kansas City Star newspapers. Leroy retired from the Kansas City International Airport as a maintenance man and locksmith. Marge and Leroy relocated to Mountain Home in 1999 from Kansas City, Missouri. Leroy was a member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church and the Twin Lakes Gun Club. He loved shooting skeet, being outdoors, trout fishing and most of all helping and teaching others. In addition to his parents Leroy was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Shipley; a daughter, Peggy Diane Shipley and a brother, George Shipley.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marge Shipley of Mountain Home; a grandson, James Shipley of Mountain Home and two brothers, Jimmy Shipley of St. Joseph, Missouri and Danny Shipley of St. Charles, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Mountain Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hughes officiating. A fellowship gathering will be following the service. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Holder, Leroy Shepherd, Floyd Halterman, Bob Rector and Dick Kwarcinski.
