Jimmy Carter, 68, a resident of Gassville, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Care Manor Nursing Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

He was born June 8, 1943, in Ridgely, Tennessee to the late Raymond and Mary Opal Yates Carter. Jimmy worked as a computer programmer for Schering-Plough and the last of his working career he was a junior high and high school teacher. He was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee where he was an active volunteer. Jimmy relocated to Gassville, Arkansas from Memphis, Tennessee in October of 2009 to be closer to his children. Jimmy loved watching his grandsons grow and play; he also loved reading books in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Opal.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Dana and Jeff Hoskins of Gassville, Arkansas and Allison Carter of Cotter, Arkansas and two grandchildren, C.J. and Bryan Hoskins of Gassville, Arkansas.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely, Tennessee.

Arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
