Ludie Mae (Hammett) Gale, age 88, was born February 12, 1925 at Russ County Henderson, Texas to Otis and Ada (Moore) Hammett. She passed away November 26, 2013 at Houston House Nursing Home, Houston, MO.

She grew up in Henderson, Texas. Ludie married James “Vester” Gale on December 23, 1944. They moved to Eunice, MO where they bought a farm. She loved her animals and enjoyed gardening.

Ludie worked for Angelica Uniform factory, until she had to retire due to her health. In 1983 they bought a home in Houston. She lived there until 1999 when she went to reside at Houston House.

She attended Eunice Baptist Church for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vester, two sisters; Linnie Brown and Adelle Parrott and two brothers.

Ludie is survived by one brother, Lonnie “Bud” Hammett of Henderson, TX, and a faithful friend Edna Beasley of Houston, MO.

Ludie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorials may be made to the Antioch Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.evansfh.com.

No formal visitation will be held. Her body will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Friday November 29, 2013 at Evans Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday November 30, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Evans Funeral Home with Brother Brad Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
