Velma Alene Kuehn, age 89, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Ethel Mae (Freeland) Tweed, was born April 12, 1924 in Solo, MO. She died October 22, 2013 in Houston, MO.

She married Norman Kuehn November 6, 1944 in Houston, MO. They had one daughter, Janis. She and Norman shared 53 years together. He passed away May 1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Jane Wallace and Ruby Karr; one brother Thomas Tweed and a great-grandson, Scott Dye.

She is survived by her daughter Janis Dye of LaVeta, Colorado, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother Harold Tweed of Wisconsin and other relatives and friends.

After Velma and Norman married they lived in Wisconsin, New Mexico and Arizona. They retired to Houston in 1985. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, getting out and going for a drive with family or friends, getting together with friends at the Senior Center in Houston and playing cards. She served as an Ombudsman at Houston House for 10 years.

Velma cared about people, took an interest in their problems and was willing to help in any way she could. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Saturday October 26, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Evans Funeral Home with services beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Kettner officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
