A Mass of Resurrection for Margaret Mary Carlson, 89, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carlson died at 7:07 a.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at her home, with her family at her side.

She was born July 28, 1924, on Staten Island, New York, to William J. O’Donnell and Kathleen Donovan O’Donnell. On October 10, 1945, she married her best friend and high school sweetheart, Rex Carlson on Staten Island. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife to Rex for sixty-eight years. Mrs. Carlson was an executive secretary for a communications company. She loved people, was a very giving and loving person. Her sweet personality, warm smile and sparkling eyes will always be missed. Mrs. Carlson was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Rex Carlson, of the family home; three children, Bill Carlson, wife, Michelle, West Plains, Missouri, Audrey Kaufman, husband, Peter, Marquette, Michigan and John Carlson, Dallas, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Bryan Carlson, Sean Carlson, Megan Carlson Brown, Karin Shady, Carl Anderson, Jonathan Carlson and Christopher Carlson; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert T. O’Donnell, wife, Joan, Arlington Heights, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, two brothers and one sister, precede her in death.

The family will receive their friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m., Monday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverways Home Health and Hospice and Margaret’s evening caregivers for the exceptional care that was shown to their loved one.
