Martha Ann “Marty” Baker, 75, a resident of Midway passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 12, 1936, in Turon, Kansas to the late James Malon and Ida Etta Fry Pennel.
Marty meant a great deal to a lot of people. She was a fabulous friend, always there to lend a hand. She was Mrs. Wang to her many customers of her home sewing business. She loved fishing, casino’s and being second seat on her husband, Frank’s motorcycle. She had a wonderful love of life, a quick smile, great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She will be greatly missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Frank Baker; her oldest child, Randy Jones and her siblings, Mary Imel and Joe Pennel.
Survivors include her four children, Brenda Hibdon of Merced, California, Dennis Jones of Taft, California, Twink Kaplan and her husband, Al of Penngrove, California and Brad Jones of Hope, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Tina Baker of Mountain Home; four sisters, Viola Carmichael of Lyons, Kansas, Etta Taylor, Juanita Prichard and Ramona Rescoe, all of Hutchinson, Kansas; a brother, Marion Pennel of Hutchinson, Kansas; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2011, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
