cawveyFuneral services for Cecil “Gerald” Cawvey, 87, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Cawvey died at 11:05 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at NHC Healthcare.

He was born November 11, 1925, at Moko, Arkansas, to Cecil King Cawvey and Lona Mae Holloway Cawvey. On December 23, 1948, he was married at Moko, Arkansas, to Laura Jean Bentley, who preceded him in death on September 6, 1976. In 1978, he was married at Salem, Arkansas, to Mildred Bray, who preceded him in death in 2010. Mr. Cawvey was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre of War. Before his retirement, he had been the owner/operator of Cawvey’s Electric, Glenwood Store and had worked for the City of West Plains. He enjoyed his work, farming, riding his tractors, fishing and was an avid hunter. Mr. Cawvey was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Moko Church of Christ.

He is survived by one son, Gary Cawvey, wife, Jonna Kay, West Plains, Missouri; one step-son, Sonny Bray, wife, Connie, Salem, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Lori Cawvey, Scott Cawvey, wife, Nita, Shawna Cawvey, Michele Wood, husband, Shane, Kayla Ball, husband, Jarred and Carson Cawvey, wife, Carolina; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, Holly, Hailey, Hassie and Hanna; one brother, Marshall Cawvey, wife, Janet, West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Fern Duke, State of Michigan; two daughters-in-law, Renee Cawvey, West Plains, Missouri and Pamela Cawvey, Tecumseh, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Bill Bowling; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, wives, two sons, Michael Cawvey and Richard Cawvey, one grandson, Stacy Cawvey, two sisters, Rosella and Christina ; one brother Hedley, and two brothers-in-law, Toll R. Duke and Carnie Hammond, precede him in death.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the State Line Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to State Line Cemetery or Disabled American Veterans, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
