goforthDoris Irene Goforth, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 15, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Welcoming her with open arms in heaven was her loving husband of 63 years, Fred.

She was born on August 27, 1915 in Willow Springs, Missouri. to Jess and Nancy Goodman. She married Fred Goforth on January 28, 1933. To this union 11 children were born.

Mrs. Goforth spent most of her life in the Tyrone area. She worked at Angelica for 18 years. She was also a housekeeper at the Texas County Rest Home and Texas County Memorial Hospital. She was a loving housewife and mother.

Doris was saved and baptized at an early age. Most of her life she was an active member of the Tyrone Assembly of God Church where she devoted many hours to vacation Bible school, being a Sunday school teacher and song leader. She was the church clerk for many years. In later years she became a member of Houston Assembly of God Church where she attended as long as her health permitted. Doris loved the Lord with all her heart and loved singing hymns. We take comfort in knowing that she is now singing in the heavenly choir.

Surviving are her children, Doyle Goforth and wife, Marie, of Salem, Missouri; Freda Kell and husband, Bob, of Raymondville, Missouri; Faye Aldridge and husband, Bob, of Springfield, Missouri; Cleta McKinney of Houston, Missouri; Deloris Haney and husband, Harold, of Arnold, Missouri; Dewayne Goforth of Houston, Missouri; Vera Byse and husband, Roy, of Tyrone, Missouri; Trish Neugebauer and husband, Lonnie, of Houston, Missouri; Donnie Goforth and wife, Misty, of Cabool, Missouri; sister, Lucille Christeson, of Cabool, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Fred Goforth; two daughters who died in infancy; her mother and father, Jess and Nancy Goodman; son-in-law, Walter McKinney; three brothers, Ray, Paul and Elmer Goodman; three sisters, Goldia Hurley, Sylvia Herndon and Dorothy Glenn; and great grandson, Gaven French.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Nick Melton presiding. Pallbearers were; Randy Kell, Robert Aldridge, Harold McKinney, Sonny Haney, Terry Goforth and Dusty Goforth. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
