Maddalena Rosa Ronzani, 87, of Mountain View, Missouri died January 16, 2013 at Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri. She was born September 20, 1925 in Amare di Vincenza, Italy, the daughter of Andrea and Margherita (Carollo) Carretta.

Funeral Services will be Saturday January 19, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Yarber Mortuary, with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, North Canaan, CT

She was united in marriage to Leonardo Ronzani on May 8, 1948 in Lugo, Vincenza, Italy.

Survivors include her son, Sergio L. Ronzani, and wife, Phyllis, of West Plains, MO; one sister, Luisa Carretta, of Torino, Italy; one brother, Giulio Carretta of Lusiana, Italy; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ronzani of North Canaan, CT, Margherite Ronzani of Torrington, CT, Christina Ronzani of Winsted, CT; and Sergio Ronzani II of West Plains, MO; four great grandchildren and a little girl due in March 2013.

She was predeceased by her parents, Margherita and Andrea Caretta; husband, Leonardo Ronzani; and a sister, Giuseppina Carretta.

Maddalena was a member of the Roman Catholic Church in North Canaan, CT.

In 1954, Maddalena came to the United States, where she worked at the Blackberry Inn in Norfolk, CT until Becton Dickenson opened in the late 1950’s. She worked at Becton Dickenson until she retired in 1983 as a Quality Control Inspector.

After retirement, she enjoyed working several days a week as a volunteer at Geer Memorial Nursing and Rehab in North Canaan, CT. She helped take the residents on outings and especially enjoyed working in the Alzheimer’s Unit.

She lovingly knit her four grandchildren sweaters, hats, and socks in her spare time. She enjoyed traveling, going back to Italy many times. Just before her husband’s passing in 1983, they went to Italy for three months. She was a regular on many bus trips the local tour company made.

In 2004, she moved with her son to West Plains, MO, where she enjoyed attending local live music shows until becoming a resident at Mountain View Healthcare in 2008.

Maddalena’s greatest passion was her family.
