He was born May 13, 1941, in Mount Airy, North Carolina to the late William Adolphus and Mildred DeYoung Campbell. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany. After his military service Mr. Campbell worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he retired after 34 years of service. He relocated to Gassville in March of 2007 from Tampa, Florida. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Shriners, the Masonic lodge in Florida and the Yellville Masonic Lodge 117. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Campbell of Gassville; a son, Eric Campbell of Gassville; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Brionne Vredenburg of Flippin; a sister, Nan Boyd and family of Elkin, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Udo Roncossek and family of Obrigheim, Germany and four grandchildren, Anthony, Ashley, Walker and Claire.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marillyn Schultz officiating. Interment will be private under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
