Dorothy Virginia Brown, 97, of Birch Tree, Missouri departed this life on September 22, 2012 at Birch Tree Place, Birch Tree, Missouri. She was born March 19, 1915 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Cecil L. and Martha W. (Lewis) Fry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; two children, Joseph Dumas and Anna Marie Hales; one brother, Cecil Fry; two sisters, Barbara Sue Fry and Pauline Moger; and one grandchild, Desi Dumas.
Surviving are one son, Donald Dumas and wife, Barbara of Bartlett, IL; seven grandchildren, Debi Wagner, Heather Dumas, Brian Dumas, Jeffrey Dumas, David Hales, Sean Hales, and Joseph Hales; a niece, Barbara Foster of Birch Tree, who had been her caretaker for the past twelve years; two nephews, Richard Moger and Robert Moger, both of Springfield, MO; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Dorothy was born and raised in the Ozarks, lived in Arizona near 45 years, and then returned. She had been a member of the Birch Tree United Methodist Church for the past 14 years.
Dorothy was an avid gardener. She was also a Past Worthy Matron of the Painted Desert Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She will be greatly missed.
