Richard Leon Bodenhamer, 84, was born on September 2, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Harry Eual and Bessie Adelaide (Fleshman) Bodenhamer. He passed away September 15, 2012 at the Indian Creek Nursing Center, Overland Park, KS.

He lived most of his life in Kansas City, MO. He worked for Hostess, Taystee and Wonder bread for over 20 years. Later he became a security guard and armed guard for picking up money at various convenient stores.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; George Bodenhamer, his twin, Robert Bodenhamer, James Bodenhamer and Harry E. Bodenhamer, a sister Virginia and a son John R. Selleck.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Lukens, and his children; Michael A. Bodenhamer, Carol A. Chapman, Rick Bodenhamer and Karen Gavrilys.

Richard was in the Marines and Navy during WWII and the Korean War where he earned the Purple Heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services with full military honors will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Boone Creek Cemetery with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
