Funeral services for Edna Mae Hooker, 88, Pocahontas, Arkansas, formerly of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2012, at Spring Creek Church, West Plains, Missouri, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hooker died at 12:43 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Five Rivers Medical Center, Pocahontas, Arkansas.
She was born October 6, 1923, at Harrisburg, Arkansas, to Oscar and Julie Curtain Whittingham. On November 25, 1939, she was married at Harrisburg, Arkansas, to Virgil Edward Hooker, who preceded her in death on January 24, 2010. Mrs. Hooker was a homemaker; she loved her family, cooking, gardening, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had been a long time member of Center Grove Church, Moody, Missouri and was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Imboden, Arkansas.
She is survived by six children, Bonnie Young, husband, Lavon, Imboden, Arkansas, Wanda Ford, husband, Bill, Bono, Arkansas, Jim Hooker, wife, Marilynn, West Plains, Missouri, Linda Hall, husband, Ralph, Searcy, Arkansas, Michael Hooker, wife, Debbie, Grapeville, Texas and Shelia Stewart, husband, Steve, Flower Mound, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; f our brothers; two sisters; several nieces and nephews; and her “second family”, The Denton children,
Her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister, precede her in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the South Fork Cemetery.
