Richard Wayne Cash, aged 71, died June 22, 2012, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri. He will be remembered and honored by his family and friends as a man who exemplified honesty, tolerance, and goodness.
Richard was born in Portageville, Missouri , to Claude and Dovie Cash. His early years were spent in this area and he then was moved to California by his parents. He attended Sanger High School where he met his future wife, Joyce Herdeg. They married in 1959 and remained lifelong partners ever since. They had four children-Rodney Cash, Eric Cash, Rich Cash, and Krissa Aslin. His children gave him twelve grandchildren and they in turn gave him eight great grandchildren. He loved and cared for them all.
Richard served his country in the US Army from 1960 through 1963. He was a Communications Specialist and separated from the service as a sergeant. He had served twelve months in Korea.
Richard had many jobs throughout his life but his calling was auctioneering. He established Cash Auction Company in Fresno, California, in 1988 and was quite successful. His word was as good as a written contract and he was well respected in the community.
A love of Missouri from his youth brought him back to Willow Springs in 2000. The family settled on a ridge top west of town in the trees and space that was home to him. His joy was walking his property and taking in the peace and quiet of his woods. Richard had a dignity about him that he shared with all the family and his friends.
A celebration of life for Richard will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at one PM at the Cash family home. All friends are invited to attend and share the good memories of a man we all admired. The address is 2240 State Hwy 137 in Willow Springs.
