Kenny Ray Chaney, 55, of Willow Springs, Missouri died May 29, 2014 at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, Missouri. He was born March 15, 1959 in Cabool, Missouri, the son of James H. and Nancy J. (Pruitt) Chaney.

Visitation will be Sunday June 1, 2014, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Yarber Mortuary – Willow Chapel. Funeral Services will be Monday June 2, 2014, 1:00 pm at First Christian Church-Willow Springs.

He is preceded in death by his father, James; one brother, Jimmy Chaney; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy J. Chaney, of Willow Springs, MO; one daughter, Amanda Lilly Gene Chaney of Yellville, AR; two brothers, Larry Gene Chaney of Willow Springs, MO and Terry Andrew Chaney of Louisville, TX; three sisters, Dottie D. Wahl of Marshfield, MO, Denise L. Tinnin of Paragould, AR, and Christine Collins of Georgetown, TX; nine nieces and nephews; three great nieces and nephews; and a slew of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kenny served his country in the United States Army. He also worked as a paralegal. Kenny was a member of the First Christian Church in Willow Springs, MO.

Thomas, RobertRobert “Bob” Thomas, 90, of Mountain Home passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Mountain Home after a brief illness.

He was born February 21, 1924, in Greenfield, Indiana. Bob came to Arkansas after retiring from the Air Force in 1970 as a LT Colonel, serving our country for over twenty four years. He lived in Mountain Home for thirty four years, having left the Clarkridge area, having lived there for eight years. Bob was a 1942 graduate of Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana. He went on from there as many of our young men did at that time and joined the Army Air Corp. Bob served as a glider pilot in the last glider mission of the war, landing on German soil. He went on to take part in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, ending a long career as an Officer in the Air Force  flying many types of aircraft, from Gliders to Fighter Jets. His love for flying, along with his career in the military has taken him all over the world. Bob continued to fly right up until the end, leaving behind his “baby”.

Bob also left behind the many friends he made while living here in Mountain Home. He was a long standing member of the VFW and the Gun Club, and even joined the local chapter Motor cycle club for a few years when he was well into his eighties.

Bob married twice, the first to Joyce Smith of Anderson, Indiana in 1948. Together they had four children, Maryann (1949) now deceased, Jeffrey (1953), Michael (1955) now deceased, and Steven (1957). Bob remarried in 1980 to Sue Davenport who passed away in 2000, here in Mountain Home.

He is survived by his first wife, Joyce (Smith) Peterson; Jeffrey (Wanda) Thomas, Steve (Wendy) Thomas, Paula Hardin, Kathy Goff, Debbie Davenport; nine grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Marie (Swain) Thomas.

Arrangements are private under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Florice Smith, age 81, a resident of Summersville will be held Sunday, June 1st, at 2:00 PM at Bradford Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Steelman officiating.

Visitation for Mrs. Betty Smith will be held at Bradford Funeral Home, Saturday evening, May 31, from 6 to 8 PM.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home

Mr. Gary Dale Tate age 67 of Lynchburg, MO passed away May 27, 2014 at Lebanon, MO.

Graveside services for James T Johnson, age 89, of Alton, Missouri will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer Missouri with Brother Bill Bales officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 1:00 until 1:30

Burial for Mr. James T Johnson will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home

Mr. Cheryl Ann Scherer, age 68 from Vanzant, MO passed away on May 28, 2014 in West Plains.

Visitations for Cheryl Ann Scherer will be Friday May 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Craig – Hurtt Funeral Home chapel in Mountain Grove.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 pm in the Craig – Hurtt Chapel with burial at the Pleasant Home Cemetary.

George Wendell Beltz, Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his family.

Visitation  will be Friday, May 30, 2014, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Yarber Mortuary in Mountain View, MO.

Funeral Services for Mr. George Wendell Beltz will be Saturday, May 31, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Yarber Mortuary.

Interment at the Clear Springs Cemetery, Texas County, MO

George was born October 24, 1928, in Willow Springs to Elmer and Ruth (Redding) Beltz. On June 6, 1948 he married the love of his life, Phebe Lorene Tate, in Mountain Grove. They were married for more than 60 years and now have been reunited in Heaven. To this union four children and two foster children were added.Visitation

George was a life-time farmer, and his love of God, family and farming was his strength. He didn’t serve in the U.S. Army but he was a strong leader in the Army of God. Together he and Lorene worked countless hours with the Church of God and spent time teaching their family about God. Whether it was on the farm and being thankful for the blessings the Lord brought or helping friends through struggles, George always kept his faith and made sure others saw that through him. His patience and gratitude to the Lord made him a role model for many people.

He raised his family in Willow Springs and was blessed to be able to know and love many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Phebe Lorene; his parents Elmer and Ruth Beltz; and two brothers J.C. and LeRoy.

He is survived by his children, Georgia Williamson and husband, Monty, of Mountain View; Joe Beltz and wife, Nancy, of Mountain View; Bob Beltz and wife, Maxine, of Willow Springs; Sharon Callahan and husband, Jeff, of Sedalia, Mo.; Connie Adkerson of West Plains and Becky Brown of Holmen, WI; two brothers, John Beltz and wife, Jeannie, of Willow Springs and Kenneth Beltz and wife, Viola, of Elk Creek; and one sister, Geneva Coats and husband, Jim, of Mountain Grove. George is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

 

Betty J Britton, , 90 of Cherokee Village, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, in her home. Betty was born Saturday, September 15, 1923 in West Frankfurt, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Charles Smith and the late Beulah Davis  Smith.

She married Dale Britton on November 25, 1946 and preceded her in death in 2006. She was blessed with four children; Brian Britton and wife Marilyn of Centralia, IL., Barbara Jones and husband Eddie of Cherokee Village, AR., Brenda Pease and husband Bob of Centralia, IL. and Beth Koester and husband Steve of Centralia, IL; 5 grandchildren, Jason Jones, Chad Koester, Craig Koester, Bobby Pease and Brent Pease; 5 great-grandchildren and a devoted sister and loving caregiver Thelma Kile.

Betty and her husband were owners of McCoy’s Shoe Store for many years before retiring to Cherokee Village, Arkansas in 1985. during years of her retirement she was an avid golfer, champion bridge player, and active member of CV United Methodist Church. She loved the Lord which was reflected in her positive attitude, her amazing work ethic, and the inspiration she gave to all who knew her. Sge was a devoted wife and mother. A Celebration of Life Service for Betty Britton will be held June 1, 2014 at 2:00pm at CV Untied Methodist Church and a reception to follow. Private interment with the family will follow at CV United Methodist Church Columbarium.
