(West Plains) – Christmas is right around the corner, and on December 15, a number of less-fortunate children in the area will have a better Christmas thanks to people like you.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #43 will have the 17th annual Shop With A Cop program on December 15 starting at 9 AM at the West Plains Wal Mart, located in the Southern Hills Shopping Center.

Officials say funds raised prior to the event will be split evenly among the selected children for toys for themselves and their siblings for Christmas. If you know of a child between the ages of three and twelve in need this Christmas, you can complete a Shop With A Cop application at the West Plains Police Department between now and December 7. Applicants will be notified by phone on or before December 12.

Letters seeking donations for the program will also be sent to area businesses prior to the event. If you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the West Plains Police Department or you can call 417-256-2244.

Events have been held throughout the year to help raise funds for the event, including the Rover Gun Club Trap Shoot.
