(Willow Springs) – The Southern Ozarks Chamber Orchestra will be in concert on Sunday afternoon, November 18, at 3 PM at the historic Star Theater in downtown Willow Springs. The program is called “Classics and Cinema Greats”, and will feature classical numbers such as Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” and “Komm, Susser Tod” by Bach. There will also be cinema favorites from Fiddler on the Roof, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park.
The concert is being sponsored by the Willow Springs Arts Council through a grant provided by the Missouri Arts Council. Tickets will be available at the door. Admission is $5 for adults and no charge for children under 12 years of age.
The orchestra is under the direction of Mr. Michael Roy, who is currently the director of bands for the Houston R-1 School District. He received his bachelors of music education degree from Louisiana State University of Baton Rouge, LA.
Currently the orchestra is made up of approximately 25 volunteers of all ages from West Plains, Willow Springs, Mountain View, Cabool, Houston, Ava, Mountain Grove, and northern Arkansas.
