(Jefferson City) – Incumbent Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon of Missouri has been campaigning for reelection this year, and is running against St. Louis businessman Dave Spence, who won the Republican nomination in August.
Spence told Ozark Radio News earlier this year that he decided to run for Governor after deciding that Missouri wasn’t moving forward:

Spence continued, saying that despite Nixon’s claims to the contrary, the economy in Missouri is not doing well:

Gov. Nixon, meanwhile, says that Missouri’s drop in unemployment is a sign that the state is moving in the right direction:

Nixon also talked about his perceived strengths since being elected Governor:

Nixon was Missouri’s Attorney General from 1993 until his run for Governor in 2008. Spence was the former CEO of Alpha Packaging, which makes plastic containers.
Libertarian Jim Higgins is also on the ticket for Governor.
