(West Plains) – About 70 people turned out Thursday morning at 7 AM for a political rally at the Republican headquarters on Washington Ave. In Downtown West Plains, as local, regional, state and federal candidates worked to get out the vote this November.
The main speaker at the rally was embattled US Senate candidate Todd Akin, who is running against current Senator Claire McCaskill. In the closing speech at the rally, Akin told the crowd that there are clear choices in the November election, and that the Republican platform was about freedom for the individual:

Also in attendance at the event was Republican Secretary of State candidate Shane Schoeller and State Treasurer candidate Cole McNary. More on Schoeller, McNary and Akin will be in the news next week.
