(Jefferson City) – Unemployment was down in all but one south-central Missouri county, according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.
In Howell County, unemployment was down to 7.2% in August, compared to 7.8% in July. Numbers indicate that 1,366 are unemployed in Howell County in a labor pool of 18,956 people.
Oregon County dropped a full percentage point, down to 7.2% for the month of August compared to July.
Shannon County’s unemployment rate was listed as 10.7% in August, compared to 11% in July.
Texas County’s unemployment dipped to 7.6% for the month of August, compared to 7.8% in July.
Wright County unemployment numbers went down .3% in August, down to 8.2% compared to 8.5% a month prior.
Ozark County saw numbers fall in August to 8.3%, compared to 8.8% in July.
Douglas County was the only county to see an unemployment increase, up to 8.3% in August, compared to 7.9% in July, or a net loss of roughly 20 jobs.
Statewide, the Missouri unemployment rate for August was down to 7.1% in August, compared to 7.6% in July.
