(West Plains) – Today is the first day of school for the West Plains R-7 School District, and school will be in session across the region for students in the next few days. Lt. Mike Coldiron with the Howell County Sheriff’s Department says that during the summer time, drivers get used to not having to look for school children. However, motorists are urged to be cautious during these first few weeks, and all school year:

Coldiron also reminds motorists that texting while driving is illegal, and especially dangerous during the school year.
