(Houston) – A Republican candidate for Texas County Sheriff who was narrowly defeated says he will ask for a vote recount.
The Houston Herald reports Tim Ceplina, who lost the Republican nomination by 21 votes this past Tuesday, made the announcement on a social networking site Friday night. Ceplina was defeated by James Sigman in the Republican Primary.
The winner faces Sheriff’s Office lieutenant Melissa Dunn, a Houston Democrat and acting sheriff in the absence of Carl Watson, who stepped down due to health issues.
