(Houston) – The suspect in a shooting incident Thursday in Texas County has now been charged with shooting his roommate.
In a story Ozark Radio News broke on Thursday, deputies with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call Wednesday morning in Elk Creek and found a man shot in the head. The victim was air lifted to a Springfield hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The suspect in the shooting and the victim’s roommate, William Wood, was charged Thursday afternoon with First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action. Police say Wood was found in a wooded area a few miles from the crime scene.
Court documents say Wood told police he pointed a rifle at the victim and the gun went off after the victim grabbed the barrel of the gun. Wood also allegedly admitted to the authorities that he was high on narcotics when the shooting occurred.
