(Mountain Grove) – As Missouri farmlands continue to be deprived of water due to the rainless conditions, farmers across the state are using every resource available to them to keep their farms operational, including prayer.
The First Christian Church in Mountain Grove held a prayer meeting Wednesday afternoon where over 60 local farmers and residents were in attendance. Pastor Justin DeVries lead the meeting, and shared that with this meeting he prays that Missouri farmers will see that there is still hope:
DeVries and local area dairy farmer Stacey McCallister came up with the idea for a prayer meeting this past Saturday night, and got the word out to as many people as possible before the meeting Wednesday McCallister told us that, after everything they’ve tried, a good way to continue is to go “back to the basics”:
He continued and said that the drought will affect this area for years to come:
South-central Missouri and north-central Arkansas has been in extreme drought conditions for most of the summer.
