(Houston) – The US Forest Service has produced a campaign to inspire students age 8-12 and their parents Discover the Forest. This campaign was created so families could re-connect with nature, experience it first-hand and bring to life the joy and excitement kids can have when they discover the wonders of nature.

Discover the Forest contains classroom activities, online learning experiences and citizen science programs, online animal information and field guides, links to forest-related career information, professional development webinars for educators, and forest research from governmental agencies, nonprofits, and universities. All of these programs have been created to interest students and parents in their environment and a lifelong relationship with it.

To view some of the many tutorials, programs, and links visit www.DiscoverTheForest.org, click ‘More to Explore’, and under ‘Encourage Learning’ is the ‘Hands on the Land Student Websites’ feature. Click on ‘Educator Resources’ and you will find 229 different free educator resources.

And the best part is that it’s all free!
