(Willow Springs) – Five separate accidents happened over the weekend, injuring a total of eight people, according to the Highway Patrol.

TWO INJURED FRIDAY AFTER TRUCK OVERTURNS NEAR WEST PLAINS

Two people were injured, one of them seriously, after a one-vehicle accident near West Plains Friday night.

The accident happened on County Road 9100, about 6 miles south of West Plains, when the westbound vehicle driven by 45-year-old Sharon Ashmead traveled off the left side of the road, overcorrected, overturned and traveled off the right side of the road and hit a fence.

Sharon Ashmead suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Air Evac. A passenger, 25-year-old Christopher Ashmead, suffered moderate injuries and refused treatment at the scene, according to a report from the Highway Patrol.

MAN ON BIKE INJURED AFTER VEHICLE STRIKES DEER

A Houston resident was seriously injured Saturday night after he struck a deer on his motorcycle.

The accident happened on Highway 63, four miles south of Houston around 8:20 PM Saturday. 64-year-old Octavio Murillo was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Air Evac.

A report from the Highway Patrol says that after striking the deer, Murillo and the bike ran off-road, hit a road sign, and overturned.

TWO INJURED FRIDAY AFTERNOON AFTER VEHICLE HITS TREE

Two residents of Ava were injured Friday after the vehicle they were in struck a tree near their hometown.

22-year-old James Downs and 32-year-old Stephanie Robrahn suffered minor and moderate injuries, respectively. Downs refused treatment at the scene, while Robrahn was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield by ambulance.

Two two were traveling west on Route 14, four miles east of Ava, when their vehicle men an oncoming vehicle on the road. The truck, driven by Downs, overcorrected and ran off-road, hitting a tree.

A report from the Highway Patrol says that Robrahn was not wear a seat belt when the accident occurred. The driver of the oncoming vehicle was not identified.

TWO WINONA RESIDENTS INJURED AFTER VEHICLE OVERTURNS

Two teenagers from Winona suffered minor injuries early Sunday morning after the vehicle they were in overturned near Birch Tree.

A report from the Highway Patrol says the accident happened on County Road 617, about five miles east of Birch Tree.

17-year-old Christopher Dooley, the driver of the car, and 18-year-old Samuel Blanks, both of Winona, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View.

WEST PLAINS WOMAN INJURED AFTER TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT

A woman from West Plains was injured late Sunday morning after a two-vehicle accident near West Plains.

The accident happened at 10:45 AM Sunday morning on Highway 160 two miles west of West Plains, where the vehicle driven by 74-year-old Kay Robohm of Frisco, TX was slowing down to turn, and was struck from behind by another eastbound vehicle driven by 75-year-old Phyllis Long of West Plains.

Long suffered minor injuries in the accident, and was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. Robohm was uninjured in the accident.
