(Willow Springs) – Highway Patrol Troop G has announced the traffic totals for the Independence Day holiday period.

From July 3 through July 8, troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). Additionally, troopers conducted a “20-Mile Trooper” project on Highway 60 on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, and Sunday, July 8, 2012.

Preliminary enforcement totals include:

16– DWI arrests

326– Speed summonses

149– Seat Belt summonses

16– Child Restraint summonses

39– Drug arrests

27– other arrests

754 — Warnings

Troopers investigated 34 traffic crashes, two of which were alcohol-related. These crashes resulted in injuries to 20 individuals with zero fatalities. Troop G officers also assisted 276 motorists during the weekend.

Captain Dwayne Isringhausen says Troop G is greatful that there were no fatal accidents in Troop G during the holiday weekend.
