(West Plains) – Ozarks Medical Center will hold the first meeting of a new diabetes support group from 4-5 PM Monday, July 23 at the OMC Parkway Classroom, located in the Parkway Shopping Center on Porter Wagoner Boulevard in West Plains.
The support group is open to those with diabetes, who are pre-diabetic, friends and family of those with diabetes or any one interested in learning more about the condition.
Cherry said the first meeting would include education and activities as well as discussion about topics of future support group meetings.
According to the ADA, 20.8 million people in the United States have diabetes; including 6.2 million who are unaware they have the disease. Approximately 1.5 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people ages 20 years or older in 2005.
