(West Plains) – A burn ban put into effect last week in the city of West Plains continues this week. City Fire Chief Tim Bean says that while small amounts of rain were received on Monday, it wasn’t nearly enough to warrant lifting the ban:

A number of cities in the area have also issued burn bans, including Willow Springs, Winona, and Licking.

He also wanted to remind people of the fireworks ordinance in the city of West Plains:

Chief Bean says that, while some cities in the state of Missouri are banning the use of barbeque grills, that people should use good judgement and common sense if grilling today. Some tips include grilling in an open area, and not near flammable siding or inside garages.

Also, Bean wants to thank the city residents for their cooperation during the burn ban. He says that despite the conditions, calls have been low recently.
