(Little Rock) (AP) – The Arkansas lottery is reporting that it finished fiscal 2012 with sales of $474 million, about $10 million more than the prior year.
Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said Monday the lottery sold a greater proportion of Powerball and Mega Millions tickets than a year ago. Woosley has worked to promote sales of the draw games because they have a higher profit margin than instant tickets.
Scratch tickets are far more popular with Arkansas lottery players. The lottery says that 82.8 percent of revenue last year was from instant tickets, compared to 17.2 percent for numbers games. In fiscal 2011, draw games accounted for 15.9 percent of sales.
The lottery didn’t release its profit for the year but says that number will come next week.
