(Birch Tree) – The Mayor of Summersville was killed early Monday morning after a one-vehicle accident near Birch Tree.
A report from the Highway Patrol says 40-year-old Leroy Wells was killed after the accident, which happened at 5:15 AM. The report says that the accident happened when the logging truck he was driving ran off the road and overturned on Route FF north of Birch Tree.
Wells was the mayor of Summersville for about 18 months.
Funeral Services for Wells will be held Friday, June 29 at 3:00 PM at Bradford Funeral Home in Summersville. Visitation will be held at Bradford Funeral Home, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Barnett Cemetery near Summersville under the care of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
