(Jefferson City) – Monday afternoon, April 28, debates began in the Missouri Senate on the 13 individual measures that comprise Missouri’s Fiscal Year 2015 operating budget.

Senator Kurt Schaefer, R-Columbia, chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee and handles House Bills 2001-2013 in the upper chamber. He touched on some of the highlights of House Bill 2002, which funds elementary and secondary education for the coming fiscal year:

During debate, Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence, tells the handler he supports fully funding the school foundation formula:

On the same bill, Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, believes Missouri needs to put federal funding to good use:
