(West Plains) – Aspiring chalk artists of all ages are invited to attend the first ever Color the Square Chalk Walk in downtown West Plains on Saturday, May 10.

From 10 AM to 2 PM that day, the sidewalks along the West Plains Courthouse Square and Washington Avenue will be open and available for grand, public displays of art.

Although participants are encouraged to bring their own washable, non-toxic chalk, some downtown businesses will offer Chalk Stations where children, families and artists can borrow chalk if needed. Those businesses will have signs in their windows indicating that chalk is available there.

Artwork will be limited to the sidewalks around the Square and Washington Avenue, and not on buildings or directly in front of businesses or entrances. Streets will not be blocked off, so participants are asked to stay on the sidewalks and be mindful of traffic. Those who would not be able to attend on May 10 should call West Plains Downtown Revitalization Director Kerri Jones at 417-372-1078 for information on putting art up before the event. You can also email her at downtownwestplains@gmail.com for more information.

The event is being sponsored by West Plains Downtown Revitalization, Inc.
