(Ava) – A fugitive wanted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has turned himself in.

31-year-old Jacob James of Ava, who was wanted on aggravated stalking charges, was arrested around 3 PM Thursday.

James pleaded guilty to sexual assault and served time in prison. After being released, law enforcement officers say he has committed numerous violations of the conditions of his parole, including stalking and harassing his victim.

Sheriff Chris Degase says James surrendered in rural Douglas County after giving the sheriff’s office his location.

He was arrested without incident and taken to the Douglas County jail. He also has a warrant for his arrest in Christian County on a stalking charge.
