(West Plains) – Area LPNs wishing to obtain RN credentials through Missouri State University-West Plains’ new evening program for the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree have until April 1 to apply.

Seats are still available in the evening program, so officials decided to extend the application deadline from February 1 to April 1 to give additional opportunities to area LPNs to enroll.

Director of Nursing Amy Ackerson said the university recently received approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing (MSBN) to expand it’s LPN-to-RN bridge program. As a result, the nursing department will begin offering an evening bridge program targeting, but not limited to, working licensed practical nurses.

The evening bridge program is expected to begin in June following a site visit by MSBN officials. All course and clinical rotations for the evening program will be offered after 5 PM or online.

Additional information about the program and the application process can be found a wp.missouristate.edu/academics/nursing. For more information about the LPN-to-RN bridge program or the nursing program, call the Missouri State-West Plains nursing department at 417-255-7245.
