(West Plains) – Researchers from Stanford School of Medicine recently visited Ozarks Medical Center to learn more about the health care center’s achievements.

Dr. Keith Marton and Dr. Matthew Anstey visited as part of a project supported by the Stanford School of Medicine Clinical Excellence Research Center. OMC was chosen for a site visit after being identified as one of 10 hospitals in Missouri providing excellent, quality care at a lower cost.

During the visit, Dr. Marton and Dr. Anstey observed nursing staff caring for patients and the patient discharge process. They also learned more about OMC’s quality and safety program, readmission initiatives, performance improvement efforts, discharge medication procedures and the coordination of care between OMC’s clinic system and the hospital.

In 2013, OMC was one of two Missouri hospitals to receive the “Excellence in Safe Care Award” from the Center for Patient Safety. In addition, OMC was named in the top 5 percent in the country for patient safety and quality by Healthgrades.com, a website that uses comprehensive information about clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, patient safety, and health conditions to compare health systems nationwide.
