(West Plains) – The fate of a landmark home in West Plains will be decided later this year.

The Butler House, located in Butler Park at 1135 West Broadway in West Plains, is in severe need of rehabilitation, so much so that the city held a public meeting at the house last year, according to City Administrator Tom Stehn, who added that the city has been working with the Southern Missouri Home Builder’s Association on the issue:

Stehn says that there are two main hurdles in the path to preserving the home:

Despite the fate of the Butler House, Stehn says that the Parks and Recreation Department office will be moved:

That decision date, again, is July 1.
