(West Plains) – Two people were seriously injured Friday after the vehicle they were in hit a brick wall in West Plains.

The accident happened at 9:39 PM Friday at the intersection of Preacher Roe Boulevard and Arkansas Avenue, when the eastbound vehicle driven by 44-year-old Oscar Caughron of West Plains crossed into the westbound lane and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to crash into the wall.

Caughron and his wife, 41-year-old Tracey Caughron, suffered serious injuries. Oscar was flown from the scene to a Springfield hospital by Air Evac, while Tracey was taken by South Howell County Ambulance.

A report from the West Plains Police Department states the vehicle was going over 60 miles per hour when the accident occurred. Blood was drawn from the driver and will be tested by the Highway Patrol crime lab. Results from that test could take 3-4 weeks to come back.
