(West Plains) – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are currently investigating a shooting incident that took place Tuesday night that left one person dead.

The sheriff’s office received the call around 8:30 PM of a shooting that took place at a home in the 8400 block of County Road 6890 in West Plains.

Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry told Ozark Radio News that the victim has been identified as 37-year-old Brock Powell of Pomona. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday at 1 PM at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

At this time, no charges have been filed in the case. Cherry says that he is consulting with the sheriff’s office and the prosecutor’s office on the possibility of a coroner’s jury in the case.

Other information concerning the circumstances of the shooting are not being released at this time, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
