(Jefferson City) – The unemployment rate for the Missouri region is down for most all local counties.

Numbers from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center say that Howell County saw an unemployment rate drop from 6.1% in September 2013 to 5.5% in October 2013, with 18,357 people listed as employed in October compared to 18,074 in September. The labor pool in Howell County also increased over the last month by 174, from 19,250 to 19,424. 1,067 people were listed as unemployed.

In Shannon County, unemployment was up .4%, from 7.6% in September to 8% in October. 246 were listed as unemployed in Shannon County in September, and 250 were listed as umemployed in October. The labor force also dropped in October, down from 3,218 to 3,136.

Unemployment in Oregon County dropped from 6.4% in September to 6.1% in October. 288 people were listed as unemployed in October, comparted to 300 in September. The labor pool also increased by 58 people, from 4,699 in September to 4,757 in October.

In Douglas County, unemployment dropped from 8.8% in September to 6.3% in October, with the number of unemployed people dropping 172 from 566 to 394. The labor pool decreased in October to 6,287, down from 6,425 in September.

Unemployment in Ozark County decreased to 6.6% in October, compared to 6.9% in September. 288 were listed as unemployed in October, compared to 312 in September. The labor pool for October was 4,372, compared to 4,496 in September.

In Wright County, unemployment decreased to 6.6% in October, compared to 6.9% in September. 512 were listed as unemployed in October, compared to 571 in September. The labor pool in October was 8,185, compared to 8,248 the month before.

Unemployment in Texas County decreased to 6% in October, compared to 6.3% in September. 707 people were listed as unemployed in September, and that number dropped to 681 in October. The labor pool decreased from 11,289 in September to 11,285 in October.
