(Houston) – Thanks to special donation of $2,000 in matching funds from the Healthcare Services Group Foundation (HSGCF), the Texas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation was able to award an additional $250 in scholarship funds from HSGCF to eight area college students.

Holly Atterberry of Plato; Jennifer Belew, Amber Sillyman and Kerry York of Houston; Sarah Barnaba, Shelby Brown and Brianna Sullivan of Cabool, and Mattison Reed of Mountain Grove were the recipients of $250 apiece. They were also recipients of scholarships from the TCMH Healthcare Foundation in 2013.

Founded in 2012, the vision of HSGCF is to fund healthcare programs that advance the quality of patient care, patient safety, and community wellness by addressing the need to assist in funding education for those persons pursuing medical and support specialties to staff Missouri hospitals. The intention is to fund education of locally talented students who are pursuing careers in healthcare and plan to return to hometown communities upon graduation.

The program provides matching financial assistance to students awarded financial assistance by hospitals that are members of the Healthcare Services Association and insured by the Missouri Hospital Plan (MHP). The scholarship program is designed to facilitate, attract, and retain healthcare providers in Missouri.
