(Winona) – The Missouri Department of Conservation will be offering a two day backpacking trip on the Ozark Trail beginning at the Peck Ranch Wildlife Refuge and ending on the Current River on October 19-20.

Backpacking is a great way to relax, rewind, recharge and experience nature but not everyone feels comfortable striking out on their own for the first time. Experienced backpacker Wyatt Layman will be offering the opportunity for inexperienced hikers. Backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and cooking equipment for the trip are available on loan from Twin Pines. Meals will be provided as well.

There is no cost for the program but registration is required and limited to ages 13 and up. For more information, or to register, please call 573-325-1381. Twin Pines is located on Highway 60 in Winona, 1.3 miles east of the intersection with Highway 19 North.
