(Houston) – Two people are dead after a five-vehicle accident Thursday near Houston.

A report from the Highway Patrol says the accident happened at 1:20 PM on Highway 63 near Emmett Kelly Park. Three cars were parked in traffic, and a northbound vehicle operated by 48-year-old James McCune of Hartville struck the back of the third vehicle, causing a domino effect. The front car was then pushed into the southbound lane and struck another vehicle head-on.

A passenger in one of the parked cars, 78-year-old Janet Hoffman of Salem and the driver of the same vehicle, 78-year-old Ralph Hoffman, were both killed in the accident.

Five other people suffered various injuries, and were all taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.
