(Mountain Home) – A man from Baxter County drowned in Lake Norfork on Thursday afternoon after he fell off a private boat dock in the Diamond Bay area.

A release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened on a dock on Baxter CR 857 shortly before 3 PM.

Sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders from the Hand Cove Volunteer Fire Department, as well as Baxter Regional Medical Center Ambulance Service, Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Officers, and U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers rushed to the scene.

43-year-old Robert Comstock of the Hand Cove area had been in the water for at least 20 minutes before nearby residents pulled him out before emergency personnel arrived.

Comstock had been fishing on the dock with his mother, who told authorities he suffered an epileptic seizure on the dock and fell into the water.
