(Mountain Home) – Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) has been selected as a Military Friendly School for 2012 by G.I. Jobs magazine for the second consecutive year. Colleges, universities, and trade schools making the list are recognized as being in the top 20% in providing education support benefits to military veterans.

ASUMH’s list of military services that led to this distinction include military scholarships, credit for military services and training, CLEP, and online/distance learning.

The 1,518 institutions on the G.I. Jobs magazine list were selected from more than 8,000 schools in the nation that are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans. According to G.I. Jobs, military and veterans students represent 6.1% of the student population at ASUMH.

ASUMH’s VA Certified Official Sherri Abel noted that a number of veterans and their dependents are often pleasantly surprised to learn they are eligible for military benefits they were not aware of. Abel said she welcomes the opportunity to visit with individuals interested in pursuing their education at ASUMH who have questions about their potential eligibility. Abel may be reached at 870-508-6241 or sabel@asumh.edu.
