(Houston) – A Mountain Grove man was cited by the Houston Police Department Sunday after checking himself into the emergency room at Texas County Memorial Hospital then running away.

The incident began just after midnight when a Houston Police Officer was dispatched to the ER regarding a suicidal patient who had run off. 21-year-old Austin Moore was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after being found around 1 AM on Highway 17.

ER staff told the officer that Moore had checked himself in after he cut his wrist, but had then become uncooperative and ran, claiming he was going to kill his wife.

A report from the Houston Police Department says that Moore was taken to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains for a 96-hour mental evaluation.
